Father's Day Beef Burgers

Makes: 4 Burgers

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

The best, juicy beef burger - just in time for Father's Day!

We have indulged in many burgers over the years, but this one stacks up to be the winner.  The texture, flavour, aroma - everything about it makes it the ultimate beef burger, to the point that dad won't even know it's gluten free.

Filled with wholesome ingredients, these easy-to-make juicy burgers are perfect for a family lunch, dinner or BBQ. They can be made free, simply swap our brioche-style milk buns with our vegan buns and opt for a dairy free cheese.

INGREDIENTS

For the Burger Patties

  • 500g beef mince
  • 3/4 cup Nodo Everything Crumb Breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper

    For the Burgers

    • 4 Nodo Milk Buns
    • 1 head of cos lettuce, leaves chopped and washed
    • 2 small tomatoes, sliced
    • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
    • Ketchup and mayonnaise

    METHOD

    1. Slice each milk bun in half. Set aside.
    2. Combine the burger patty ingredients in a large bowl. Split the mixture into four portions.
    3. Using wet hands, roll each portion into a ball and then flatten the ball to create a burger patty.
    4. Preheat a grill or frypan on a high heat for 1-2 minutes. Spread a little oil over both sides of the patty and then place on the cooking surface. Repeat for the remaining patties.
    5. Cook until the patty is well caramelised, 3-4 minutes.
    6. Flip each patty over and add a slice of cheese on top. Continue to cook on a high heat for a further 2-3 minutes, until the patties are cooked through and the cheese has melted.
    7. While the burger patties are cooking, place the milk buns cut-side down in a dry pan to toast. Remove when golden brown and set aside.
    8. When the patties are ready, remove them from the heat and place on a piece of paper towel to remove any excess oil.
    9. To assemble the burgers, spread ketchup on the base of each milk bun base before layering the lettuce and tomato on top. Place a cooked patty onto each bun. Spread mayonnaise onto the milk bun lid and then place on top.
